My Educational Philosophy
As an elementary student years ago, I had ever treated poorly by teachers. I was see as a useless and average children in class, teachers had never given any attention and opportunities to me, they judged and compared my abilities to other children, so I had lost all confidence and interest in school. However, when I went to junior high, I had changed to a bright intelligent student because of a teacher; I was recognized by various teachers and made great progress in school I had ever made. That’s why I want to be a teacher and practice in education. Because I know how a teacher will make a different in a child’s life, just like mine.
There are two things I believe in teaching or being a teacher. First, is to teach students in accordance with their aptitude. As we all know, everyone is unique in their way, no one is better or worse than anyone when given opportunities, and this is where teachers take their role. To me, teachers are there to give each child a special key to open a door of their own, and this door will lead them to achieve their full potential. Do you know what I mean about the door and the key? In here, the door I mean is children's talent or their intelligent, and the special key is the best method to teach a child or for a child to learn after we thoroughly understand their qualities. Sometimes a teacher only apply one method of teaching to a class will only lead partial students to success, not all; therefore, I believe teachers should be flexible enough to cope with different children’s aptitudes and their needs.
The second thing I believe in teaching is making no distinct between individuals. Regardless of children’s ability, personality, ethnicity, appearance and family condition, teacher should treat everyone equally and objectively, because children's learning experience always comes in priority, and our job is to help children find their key. Teachers who have biases on these factors will destroy children in ways we cannot expect, like their confident in their ability or interest in certain subject.
Although I think teachers take a huge responsibility in children’s learning, and education cannot get better when a student become in love with school because of a teacher, but parents are still the vital role in children’s development. In order for children to be successful, children are to walk with teachers and parents holding their hands side by side, yet they can easily fall behind when either side let go. So, in the future, I hope I can well assist and cooperate with parents to create a perfect environment for children to blossom. And I look for each of you to be in this journey.
